For most of us, taking a hot shower is something we take for granted. Whether we do it in the morning, after work or before bed, we figure we’ll never run out hot water or any water for that matter.

Showerhead Rebate Program

Unfortunately, water conservation is something we shouldn’t take lightly. In order to help you do your part to preserve energy, Ontario companies like Enbridge Gas Distribution are offering rebates that contribute to the great cause of water conservation.

The Showerhead Rebate Program, like the one offered by Enbridge gives its multi-residential customers a chance to replace their standard showerheads with energy efficient ones.

By taking part in this initiative, you will not only save money but also do your part to save the environment. This consumer incentive amounts to $6 per showerhead. That’s the price of a fancy coffee. A latte won’t help save the environment, but this showerhead program will!

Energy-efficient showerheads release less than 1.5 gallons per minute of water instead of the standard 2.5+ gallons that are released by standard showerheads. You may not realize just how much energy and water is released yearly from traditional showerheads.

Think about it. The average person takes at least six ten-minute weekly showers. With at least 35 million people living in Canada, that’s a lot of showers and a lot of wasted water. By participating in the Showerhead Rebate program you’re taking a big step towards water conservation that will pay off in the long-term.

There are many benefits of the Showerhead Rebate Program such as water conservation, reduction in natural gas costs and reduction in water costs.

Besides the environmental benefits that go along with this program, there are two immediate paybacks for you, the consumer. With an energy-efficient showerhead all your tenants or residents can shower in succession and you won’t run out of hot water. Plus, you’ll notice savings on your next utility bill.

In order to take part in this program you must ensure that all your existing showerheads have a flow rate that is greater than 2.5 gallons per minute and you use natural gas as the source for your domestic water heater.

The 2014 Showerhead Incentive Application Form for Enbridge, which you can fill out here, will provide the company information about your existing showerheads.

The bottom line is this: Participating in the Showerhead Rebate Program is good for the environment and good for your building.
