Choosing green cleaning products and disposing all toxic ones goes a long way towards providing clean, fresh air in your home while conserving the environment.

Eco-Friendly Housecleaning Tricks

Chemical-based cleaning supplies are pricey, likely to trigger health issues, pollute the environment during manufacture, use, and disposal, and are not nearly as effective as some green cleaning choices lying around your home. Environmental products should not contain any harmful ingredients, plus they should be biodegradable within a month.

The way you combine certain ingredients, including baking soda, lemon, vinegar, borax, alcohol, and citrus lemon can give you different eco-friendly cleaning products you can use for a variety of cleaning tasks around your home. Here are some examples:

1. Mould and mildew removal

Mix equal parts of vinegar and water and then spray the solution onto moldy surfaces. Rub the surfaces with a sponge, rinse thoroughly, and then dry the surface completely to prevent further mold growth.

2. Unclogging the drain

For this, you need some boiling water, vinegar, and baking soda. Start by sprinkling the baking soda down your drain, followed by vinegar, and then let it fizz for 5-10 minutes. Afterwards, pour the hot water to wash away the remains of melted oils.

3. Cleaning the toilet

Prepare a disinfecting mixture of equal parts borax and washing soda. Stir the mixture and then sprinkle into your toilet. Scrub it and rinse.

4. Polishing furniture

Prepare a lemon solution by adding a few drops of lemon oil into half a cup of warm water. Spray the solution onto a soft cotton rag and use it to wipe the furniture. Use a dry soft cotton rag to finish.

5. Drying oil stains on your stove

Simply apply a thin layer of citrus solvent on the stained area and leave it. After 5 minutes, scrub the area with a sponge and then rinse with plenty of water.

6. Cleaning your windows

Prepare a solution using 2 teaspoons of vinegar and 1 litre of warm water, and then use it with a cotton cloth or crumpled newspaper to wipe the windows. Don’t use too much vinegar as it can etch the glass and leave it clouded. Also, clean your windows when they fall in the shade.

7. Cleaning tiles

Start by spraying a thin layer of white vinegar on the tiles. After a few minutes, use a damp cloth to wipe the tiles. If there’re stubborn stains, rub some baking soda until they disappear.

If you stop using neurotoxic cleaning products, you will make the air in your home cleaner, improving concentration and sleep. This, in turn, makes babies less fussy and gives your whole family a sense of well-being while conserving the environment.
